Default Cold weather performance

Took my Fatbob for a ride Saturday. Temperature was about 50 degrees. As I was riding along it occured to me the bike was running crisper and the exhaust tone was louder, more bark to it. I have a stage 1 and V&H 2 into 1 pipes and was wondering do any of you notice the same thing in cooler weather.

internal combustion engines lose HP when they get hot. The cooler the weather the better they run.

50° is still good riding weather here. I notice no difference. The engine still easily reaches Operating Temperature.

Your bike will run that much better with the air temps in the 50's compared to temps in the 80's! Your pulling in that much more cooler denser air which equals more power! I usually put the same amount of miles on the bike in the fall/winter as I do the summer for this very reason.

Yep, denser air means more power..

Since neither my 09 SG or the 09 1200C I traded in on it have ever been BELOW
5500-6000 feet above sea level and are often ridden in the 9,000-12,000 foot range,
I doubt I have ever seen the performance levels most of you guys have but the
bikes still seemed fine to me.

Oh yeah! I definitely notice the same thing. Temps dropped here for a couple days and my bike has never ran better! Very crisp throttle response, the pipes bark ever so clearly, and the bike pulls much harder! I LOVE it!

Yes, favorite time of the year to ride is now. Bike loves the cool air, so do I.

I notice such a thing in all my vehicles. Definitely the denser air making the difference. Why do you think "cold air intakes" are so popular in performance vehicles.

Yep, though my bob doesn't like to maintain idle in the cold, I probably don't let it warm up enough...
