I plan to install forward controls on my 05 SG. I'm 6'2" and don't know whether to go with the extended or standard controls. Also need advice on what brand to pick. Thanks in advance!
I 6'2 also and have Kuryakin (3" i think) set. I they are fine for everyday riding, but if you are on a long trip it gets aggrivating having your legs stuck there for so long. If it were me Id keep the mid pegs also, just so you have an alternate foot position.
Don't go by your height, go by your inseam. Don't know about HD controls (probably the same) but Kuryakyn recommends extended controls for inseams over 33". Mine is 34" but I still went with standard length forwards to begin with. After a couple of years, I decided to swap them out for the extended forwards and man are my legs happy now. Didn't know what I was missing.
Plenty of forward control threads that should help you decide which brand to get. Everyone has an opinion and I'm biased but I love my Kuryakyn's and I was able to install them myself with simple tools. $300 brand new shipped to my door.
I'm 6'4 with a 36" inseam, just got my Kury 3" extension, it will be a winter mod but I'm looking forward to being able to stretch out a lil bit more......$60 shipped from craigslist...in the package still. Mine is kit #9049 I think.
