Default Need advice on headlight install ?

Hi All,

I would greatly appreciate some guidance. In July I ordered an Xsighting Xe7 HID light and 7" Adjure bullet bucket (flame etched) and sat on the parts until I got my new Fat Bob, which happened this week.

The reason I went with this setup is the guy at Xsighting told me he used the exact same setup on some show bikes with no issues. I have been lusting to put this on since.

So, off I went to HD to install that and some LED stuff. I spoke with the master tech today and he said they were unable to install the light due to three reasons: 1) he thought the fitment was too tight with the ballast and thought wire rub might eventually effect the light function or worse, the electrical, and 2) he thought heat given off by the HID might cause overheating, and 3) they could not lock the HID in once it was fitted properly. The Xsighting guy thinks this may be an anomaly with Adjure as their proprietary closure is tougth to do.

In speaking with the master tech who is a very cool guy, I got the impression that it might be possible, but he didn't want to be held liable for installing an aftermarket part just in case what he said is true.

Can't say I blame him, but now I have two choices: 1) stay with the stock fat bob light which I hate that the shop I bought the bike from put on or 2) find an indy to put on the HID and Adjure bucket for me.

Which leads me to my questions for you guys:

1) If I had the Indy do it, would that pretty much blacklist me at the HD dealership among the service guys, because I ignored their advice. Maybe it would cause them to deny any warranty issues as well.

2) Are there any single lights that Fat Bob owners would recommend for me.

3) Does what the tech says make sense or is he being cautious?

Thanks in advance guys.

I don't see this "black listing" you from the dealer. they don't make the light, but they're entitled to their opinion. You are also allowed to seek third party opinions and ultimately decide what you want to do. They can only deny warranty work if they can prove that whatever you changed was the root cause of whatever problem may arise.
