well.... it would be a pain in the @$$ to strip the harley tank and shoot it only to find out i did not like it.... I have a old chop tank i have been saving up for the right build... so i stripped that down, tooled it, and then we laid some powder on it to get an idea of how the gold and black would play off eachother... not bad...
PLEASE BEAR IN MIND not much time went into this. if i decide to go with this style we will take much more time laying it out and putting the powder on, as well as clear and wetsand/buff for a mirror finish
Joe, are you talking about using this scheme on the bike you are doing all the gold parts for? If so, I think it would look great. I love that hammered look in the paint. If I ever get mine done, I want some silver in it sort of like that.
Just my opinion, but the top pic design looks like you tried to go for a flame design and didn't quite get there. I know that probably wasn't the intent. I do like something that works off the lines and curves of the tank though vs. the straight lines.
I am pretty much set on doing the 2 tone, where the tank is split black and gold... i was more worried about how the tooling would show through the gold... i love the scalopes as well... for the flames sean just taped it up and cut out a general design with a razor, nothing crazy... when we lay flames it is all marked out, striped, then cut... this was all layed out in about 5 min... more wanted to see how the gold and black would look..
The tooling shows up and looks great through the gold. Put some clear over it and it will really pop (I know this was just a sample). Black and gold definitely goes together but I wouldn't like it as much on a bike with chrome or aluminum (silver colored) parts all over it. But on a blacked out bike or with those gold parts you were showing off, it would look awesome.
Colours look great! design I'm not too fond of, but the colours look badass. The right side of the tank looks like a giant sperm haha

Your sample come across as a black paint job with gold accent, I think you should flip that ratio around because the gold with tooling under it looks excellent.
