sudden stalls
I've got a 2006 StreetBob with about 4000 miles on it. Had dealer put on AC and SE slip-ons at purchase. In the last week, the bike has stalled three times - twice at freeway speeds and once in town. I assume that this is caused by the fuel injection system. If so, is it likely an overheating issue or a problem with the onboard computer? I had a similar issue on a Ford pickup I owned several years ago - the dealer downloaded new firmware for the computer and that fixed it. I'm going to call my Harley dealer tomorrow but would like to have some idea what is going on before (if??) I go for a ride today. Thanks for your help ahead of time....
Soudns to me like Harley gave you a crappy download. Or didnt do it at all! I would get a PCIII or SERT and have it mapped the right way. Everyone keeps saying how this Harley Download is a waste of money.
It sounds like an injector issue. I've seen several threads with similar complaints, so I figured I would post some info for those of you who didn't realize that our bikes are designed to do some funky stuff that may seem like problems. Although, sometimes there is a problem. Anyway, the EFI heat management Strategy for '04 and later dyna's is:
320 degrees - Engine idle = 900
338 degrees - ECM richens air/fuel ratio
356 degrees - Skip fire: 2 of 8 pulses randomly
Battery Protection - RPM's increase when necessary to maintain proper battery voltage.
