You may have read in another post that the dealer recently made some modifications to my SG.
(SE slipons, SE air box, StageII download) The dealer was directed via a memo from the MOCO to use StageII downloads instead of StageI. That's what most dealers are currently doing. When I got my bike back I noticed an increase in performance which is nice but I also noticed a dramatic shake at idle. It now shakes right up through the seat, so much that it is extremely annoying. I have been riding for 40 years so I am aware that changing pipes will increase vibration but this is a joke. My dealer says, "it's nothing, just get used to it." Typical response!
I called another dealer out of my area and they said they have had a number of complaints after making the same modifications to the '06's. They said they currently have a SG in the shop with the same problem that is going to be checked by the factory rep on Friday.
When I get more info on Friday I will let you know the outcome. From experience, my bet is they will say, "it's normal."
It seems that I just can't get this scoot right. You would think for 20k it would be right from the showroom floor!
I went with the download due to finances but it seems I've just wasted my money. I have no plans to do any other mods so I thought the SERT would be overkill. Maybe I out guessed myself.
I'm wondering if any other riders out there have had this problem. I am also wondering if a PCIII or a "Wild Thing" or even a TFI/DFO would correct this shake at idle.
I'm telling you, It's hard to focus when I'm stopped at a light 'cause my head is vibrating! lol!
I'm not sure about the shaking, have not heard that problem. I have two freinds that bought 06 Roadkings. They both had to use the SERT to get there bikes running right. One of them used V&H long shots, the other SE slip-ons and stage 1 were used on both. The both said the downloads were crap. I have not done my SG yet, but I have spoken to a lot of people and they all said the downloads did not work.
My bike '06 RK classic has the Sert and the screaming eagle pipes and intake runs great. I think the SERT pays for itself because instead of spending $$ each time u change something on your bike with a new download, the SERT can just be adjusted. Good luck! -John
Thanks to the few who responded. It's funny, no offense inteded but a thread about a heel shifter gets over 65 responses and over 1100 hits while this thread, where I am asking for help gets 4 or 5 responses. Go figure!
Not really offended, but, the need to get the SERT and get the bike dyno'd has been talked about to death.
If you do a search on this forum, you will see where the download is known to be crap.
Dyno tuning is the best money you can spend on your scoot.
BTW, we're talking about '06's here.
No offense intended.
Mike
P.S. Heel/toe shifter"pros and cons" wasn't all that exciting to me either, but it was something new to talk about.
I thought about the download but after reading a ton of bad threads over the last month I felt like the only way to go was powercommander or SERT. I ended up ordering the pcIII $269.00...$10.00 shipping and the guy loaded a map for my mods...all I did was plug-n-play.
I have an 05 FLHTCI with a PC III. I would strongly reccomend going that route rather than the dowload. You can taylor it to match what you do to the bike.
