If I want to put a wide glide front end on a standard street bob and a fat bob front tyre as well do I need more than just the wider triple trees? Or do I need a different forks ?
Anyone fill me in.
I think the lowers have different part numbers as well. The offset on them for the brake to mount on might be different. You will need the proper spacer kit for the wheel and a new axle. I would check part #'s on the fork lowers, say an 2010 street bob vs 2010 wideglide to see if that is the case.
I was at the dealer the other day checking part numbers. The numbers for the lowers are differant but from what we could tell the only differance in the SB lowers and the WG lowers were the length. At the most you would have to use a washer between the caliper and mount to space it out. If you use a 0 degree tree then the front of the bike will not be lower. You will need the axle. Which is part number
41547-07A . The axle is the same for 08' up FB and 10' WG. I am not sure if the spacers are the same between the FB and WG. I just about have all the pieces together to convert to a WG front but I will be running a 21x2.15 wheel.
I've ask this before and I don't want to hijack this thread but I want to go with the black HD triple trees made for the Fat Bob on my Street Bob. $250 for those instead of paying $350 for just the top tree to add different bars. I want to use the stock Street Bob wheel, anyone know what spacers i would need to make this work?
Red, that would be a very troublesome swap. Main reason would be the rotor location. You would have to have a special spacer machined that would fit between the rotor and hub to bring the rotor out to line up with the caliper. I purchased my WG trees from http://www.casscountytrikes.com/gpage1.html. They have differant width trees which will replace the SB trees. You can get them in machine finsh and either paint them or have them powder coated black.

So if I didn't want to stick with the stock rim I would be better off? What would I need to make a Cross Bones front rim fit with the wide glide trees?
Thanks.
done a wide front end on my bob, so know a little about it.
first off , don't use wideglide trees if you are going with 16 or 17 in wheel. wideglide has longer sliders due to rake. use fatbob trees, same width.
possible to use standard wheel with fatbob axle, 2x 20mm spacers, 1x 20mm rotor spacer and 2x 20mm fender spacers. if going with a fatter tyre (different wheel ) use fatbob fender, requires a new hole drilling to mount. just about covers a 150 wide. you can use 25mm axle in 06 & 07 lowers due to contact part of axle being same dia as the 1" axle.
