I've used simple green with no issues. The dealer here in Flagstaff uses a simple green/water mixture to wash the denims as well.

I use ammonia free window cleaner on the the tins and Nevr Dull on the chrome. Lemon Pledge didn't work so well on the flat black paint....

A lot of you guys are saying "ammonia free", but my owners manual says to use an "ammonia based" glass cleaner. I dont have denim paint but a friend of mine does and when ever I tell him to just use windex to clean the tins he says no way would I use an ammonia based cleaner. He might be right but why does HD say to use it?

Do you use this as a substitute for something like pig spit?
You ask for advice and slam the guy giving you his experiences? I've come to find out that Windex gives a nice finish.

Simple Green rocks! I coat my engine down with it before the hose hits it. It still looks like I just rolled off the showroom floor.

3 yr old pewter denim. I use a foaming window cleaner on everything but the engine. Simple green on engine and tires. Bike still looks new. Easiest bike to clean that I've ever owned.

What he said.

Look at your owner's manual.....ammonia based glass cleaner, Harley Gloss and diluted grease cutting dishwasher detergent are all recommended for denim finish.

I've used Windex with ammonia "d" for the last three years.....bike looks great and nothing leaves it as streak-free as the Windex!
