Add me to the list of "As soon as I get around to installing my forwards, I'll keep my mid pegs".
I'm rockin the mids with hi-way pegs now, but hope to switch out to forwards this winter. I'll keep my mids, though, for all of the reasons posted in this thread.
When I bought my Dyna, I had forwards installed and they pulled the mids off, I kept the parts and have been thinking of installing them back, sometimes my legs get tired holding them out all the time, this helps me decide.
For the spirited twisty road capability of my Fat Bob, I would not have it any other way than mid controls with forward hiway pegs.
The mids are marvelously functional for max rider control of the beast in cornering stress tests.
+1
I can use my heels to brake or down shift from my forward highway pegs. Depending on the boots I wear I can even up shift from the forward pegs using the heel lip of the boot. But I rather just move my left foot to the mid control for that up shift.
Personally I see it as a waste of money and discomfort going to only forward controls. Maybe I'd feel different if I got use to forward controls, but after all these decades of using mid controls I'll stick to what works for me.
