Default looking for ape advice

Hi, I'm new here and looking for advice.
Looking for insight on what size apes to go with, I'm 5'4 (some may call that short). I' very interested in 16in Nash Gimps. However maybe need to go with 14s? they will be going on a 06 Street bob. any help would be great

The nice thing about apes is you can rotate them back towards yourself so they fit you. The question then becomes how it looks and if you like it. I am 6'1" so I can't really say first hand, but I know my girlfriend who is 5'6" can barely reach my grips sitting in the seat. She has to lean forward in a way that is not comfortable for her. You can see in my pic I have them forward a bit.
Best thing to do is find someone who has those apes and try sitting on it. See how it feels.

Go with the 14"s and if they end up a little shorter than you want add a taller riser.

I just put on 14" burly apes
at 6' 1" they are right at shoulder height or a little lower
at your height they will be pretty tall if that helps any

Lot of opinions on the Planet of the Apes. Here's mine. Its worth what you paid for it.

Run em the way theyre 'supposed' to be run, an inch or two of vertical. Anything less, why you runnin apes?

At 5'04", 16's are gonna be a stretch. I have 16's on my 06 SB. I'm 6-01. Theyre a litle above shoulder height.

14's will be a stretch. If you dont pull em back.

Find someone with 12's or 14's and compare.

Good luck. Have fun. Take chances!

If you decide to take the plunge I'd highly recommend Johnny at http://hdbikeparts.com/ He completely takes the guess work out of everything. He'll set you up with everything you need and be right the first time. I've used him a few times without any problems at all...Rich

If you can find someone with that setup see if you can sit on the bike and see how it feels.

Short of that, why not just sit on your bike and put your hands where you feel right and have someone use a tape measure and see where you're at and compare it with the Nash specs to see which bar would work best.
