Dyna riders, esp. PacNW members...
I received an email from a former co-worker with some compelling pix attached (below). They seemed to grab me in the same way that picture of arrow-straight highway 163 into Monument Valley (you've all seen it) compelled me to go ride it on our roadtrip of Sept. '08.
Got me thinking about riding this highway over Hoover Dam before the bypass bridge is complete (late 2010) and the opportunity is gone forever. If anyone up here or along the way finds these images tugging at your throttle cable (ewww, that almost sounded nasty!), give it some thought and maybe shoot me a PM. Late Spring, maybe?
Sounds like a great ride - especially in early Spring. I've got all of my vacation time spoken for, so I will not be able to go. But I sure agree that it is a compelling ride!
My dad and I have been talking about heading to Monument Valley from the Portland Oregon area next year. Maybe we can hook up in the late spring and make a small group ride of it.
My buddy and I are definitely planning to fly and rent bikes and ride that area next time we make it to Vegas. Just not sure when it will be. Not quite the same thrill you get when you see one of those yellow triangle signs with an arrow in the shape of an S on it but compelling nonetheless.

Columbia - I'd love to do Monument Valley again. My bro and I were shown some awesome N.CA passes by our other rider, after cruising down 97 thru central OR. As a fellow NW'er, you've no doubt seen plenty of "Steep Grade; Trucks Use Low Gear" signs of 6%, 8%, even 10%...how 'bout this one:
When your plans firm up, please post them. I'll be making a (probably) solo trip to
that area in that time frame but leaving from Albuquerque and it might be fun to tie up.

Will do, Mike. Anyone along the way; I'll re-post and add details when I make firmer plans. It'd be fun to pick up additional riders along the way...lots to see in transit, and once in AZ.
Sounds like a great ride - especially in early Spring. I've got all of my vacation time spoken for, so I will not be able to go. But I sure agree that it is a compelling ride!
Steve
I have all of mine and then some booked. Depending on your route and the dates I might just have to meet up and ride a few hundred miles with you though.
