Default Looking to buy 2010 Wide Glide

Hello all! I have been reading a lot of posts and I definitely appreciate all the knowledge and experience that you all have and share.

I am looking to buy a 2010 Wide Glide with some modifications done at the time of purchase and I wanted your guys input.

I am looking to do the 103 ci stage IV upgrade, automatic compression release, a heavy breather kit (not sure I can do that with the stage IV, but am hoping), as well as an exhaust.

After reading on this forum, I am thinking about going with the Thunderheader, but I like the look of the V&H 2 into 2 but don't want any performance decreases. How much should I be worried about scraping the exhaust in a corner as I know some have this problem with the stock exhaust?

Has anyone done or seen these modifications combined as I would really like to hear what they have to say.

Any advice, comments, or anything would really be appreciated!

Thanks again.

My bike is set up similiar to what you want. I have the SE Stage II 103 Big Bore Kit, PC-V, and Vance and Hines Big Shots Staggered. First off they say a 2 into 1 may make more HP, but you may lose torque. I like a bike that pulls hard at any rpm, and only torque can do that. I had four street bikes before I started to buy Harleys which had great HP and no torque. My last sportbike had a 13,500 rpm redline which took a long time to get to. Torque is more usable in big bikes like Harleys, you dont have to downshift to get power because they redline at 5200 rpm, and the power seems to hit between 2000 and 4500rpm. . The 2 into 2 pipe also gives you more of the Harley rumble. Dont worry about scaping, that means your just riding harder.

It is true you will get more HP and torque with a 2 into 1 exhaust...I went with the V & H Big Radious 2 into 2, HD heavy breather, and HD race tuner and I did not loose any HP or torque...I gained both HP and tourque....maybe not as much as a 2 into 1 exhaust but I perfere the look of the 2 into 2....Its your bike...pick the exhaust you like most and go for it.
Here is a pic of my ride so you can see what my exhaust looks like.

Oh and I forgot to mention that I have no problems with scraping!!! Maybe I'm just not riding hard enough.

Thanks for the reply. I thought that the bike was less likely to lose torque with a 2 into 1 exhaust compared to a 2 into 2 because of less back pressure. I have been reading about this and it doesn't seem that there is a huge loss, but any insight on this as well would be appreciated.

I am definitely looking to utilize the torque more. I too have and still do ride sport bikes and that's one of the reasons I changed to sport bikes with a big twin engine.

Thanks again!

Love the bike! I think I might get one just like it...those pipes are money. I have definitely been looking at those as well.

Greetings,

Yep, definitely a fun bike! No scraping issues here and yes I do take corners rather sharp from time to time.

Thanks for all the feedback! I am in the process of negotiating so hopefully I can work out a deal. Hopefully if I scrape the pipes it's not that noticeable as that would just hurt my soul...
