Default Kuryakyn vs. HD flush mount gauge and cap

I'm still wobbling back and forth about adding some flush mounts to my tank. I see that Kury has a flush mount set too but they have some detail to them instead of being flat. Still thinking about the looks 1 vs. the other. I do like that the Kury has a battery meter built into it as well. And I've heard some things, not good, about the LED's on the HD setup. The Kury's are on sale right now and are even a little cheaper on ebay and eastern performance than the HD's but not enough to sway me one way vs. the other.

Anyone tried the Kury's? If so, any thoughts on the install difficulty and/or quality of the product?

Or any opinions on the looks/features of one vs. the other?

I know there are some Kury haters here but I've had good luck and have been very satisfied with the things I've gotten from them, including my forward controls, pegs, tail light, signal bezels, mirrors, etc.

Everyone has probably seen the HD setup by now. Here's the Kury setup. If anyone has it, I'd love to see a pic of them mounted in a tank.

Here's my tank for reference on any thoughts about looks:

Get the Kurys and don't look back. I am not sure if HD has fixed the issues that a lot of folks have with the LED's going out, but I have the Kury's and they are great. Install is easy and the LED readout is easy to see. Have had mine on for about a year now and have never had a problem with it. Would recommend them to anyone.

I have the HD ones and my LED's work sometimes and other times a few don't work. Gets under my skin! At some point, I will change them to something else.

Any pix of them installed? Or thoughts on the installation itself?

I checked the Kury website and it says that their the gauge fits all HD that have a fuel gauge on the left cap but then in parentheses it says not 09-09 Dynas? What does that mean you think? Like 09 SB have one....

I saw that too. All I can think of is something changed about the size and/or wiring with the 09's. Because I also noticed before that the HD gauges are different for those model years too and they come in gloss black for the 09's and up but chrome only for the 06 - 08's.

If you look at the 09 and 10 Dynas the gauge is chrome, not gloss black.

Btw, do all Dyna's have a gas gauge on the left cap?

You mean the flush mounts? Yes, for 09's and up they are available, from HD in chrome but also in gloss black. But before 09 the same setup is only available in chrome. When I saw the black ones, they got my attention originally but then when I started looking closer, I realized they don't make them to fit my bike. But it also told me that, though they look the same, something is different about the electrical and/or the sizing of the gauge and cap on the 09 and ups from the previous years. So, it makes sense that the Kury setup is only good through 08 models until they make a different part number for the 09 and ups.
