Not understanding something. I was going to upgrade my brake rotors this winter to something a little better looking than stock. I figured any 11.5" rotor would do BUT looking in the harley accessory book i noticed that only 1 or 2 sets were listed as fitting my 06 street bob. So what makes them different. Frankly I wasn't going with a moco part at all but now I am a little leery about dropping a couple hundred on something that wont fit. Can i get any rotor or do i need to take something else into account.
There is a difference. It will depend on the rims you have too. If you have the spoke stock rims, they have a floating rotor. These are common and have a partician between the mount system and the actual rotor. The other set-up has a one piece front rotor that are mainly on aftermarket rims. These have a different mount that is wider apart since it is furture from the center hub.
I can do full racing rotors in 300 mm (the size you are asking about) in MMC or AKA Metal Matrix which weighs in at about 2 pounds each. You would always have to use an Organic pad such as a Lyndall (Red), EBS, Frodo Platimum, et al for $309.00 each plus actual shipping. These are lifetime guaranteed and look something like these but a little smaller and not in chrome.
