Default Rotor Question

Not understanding something. I was going to upgrade my brake rotors this winter to something a little better looking than stock. I figured any 11.5" rotor would do BUT looking in the harley accessory book i noticed that only 1 or 2 sets were listed as fitting my 06 street bob. So what makes them different. Frankly I wasn't going with a moco part at all but now I am a little leery about dropping a couple hundred on something that wont fit. Can i get any rotor or do i need to take something else into account.

Thanks in advance for the info.

Default rotors

There is a difference. It will depend on the rims you have too. If you have the spoke stock rims, they have a floating rotor. These are common and have a partician between the mount system and the actual rotor. The other set-up has a one piece front rotor that are mainly on aftermarket rims. These have a different mount that is wider apart since it is furture from the center hub.

Your 2006 rotor is 300 mm and not 11 1/2".

You can hit J&P online to get an idea. They let you input your bike model to narrow your results.

You should see a lot of 11.8" and/or 300mm rotors resulting from your search. 300mm=11.76" so they are basically the same, just reported differently.

Search the web for 11.8" rotors. Arlen Ness makes them, PM makes them but mostly for their own wheels. Don't like the stock rotors?

Default Mmc

I can do full racing rotors in 300 mm (the size you are asking about) in MMC or AKA Metal Matrix which weighs in at about 2 pounds each. You would always have to use an Organic pad such as a Lyndall (Red), EBS, Frodo Platimum, et al for $309.00 each plus actual shipping. These are lifetime guaranteed and look something like these but a little smaller and not in chrome.
