Fantastic advice lhc, can I borrow your bike?
That really blows, especially since you were following the shop manual. It's great for some things, but I find (at least for '08) that it is full of contradictions, and missing a lot of key info.
Hope the oil pump is the full extent of the damage, and good luck with the new cam!
hey thanks i hope its an easy fix with just the oil pump i didnt see any metal in the oil and the oil pump really isnt that chewed up i guess scored would be a better way to say it
thanks again lama im not surehow to do the pinion runout test? and could you elaborate on the tourqing the bolts while spinning the tire? dont want to f anything up again....thanks
Lama, please explain that video for people that have no clue ( like me ). Is this a manufacturing defect or improper installation? What will the .005 runout cause?
Always should check runout...this has become more of an issue for the 06 & up dynas, but has been a potential issue in the past aswell! Must check runout if going to gear driven cams...the chain is more forgiving to more runout, gears are not!
Lama has put out some really good info on this thread...all spot on! This is why I dig these forums...good information for the most part! Although I'm a big fan of adjustable pushrods, prolly cause I change sh** so much! LOL!
