is there any tricks that might help putting the sliders and tubes back together on an 08 street bob? also is there a way to get the right oil level without that special tool?
They go together fairly easy. Either you can use a measuring cup for equal amounts or just get one close, measure it and then fill the other tube the same amount.
You have to assemble the tubes in the right order. I waited until I had the lower and the tube snug before I put the seal in. Get a 2+ foot long piece of 2" pvc and file down the outside edge. Gives you plenty of room to just tap the seal into place. If you don't file down the first 1/2" or so of the pvc, it will hang up in the lower.
EDIT: Do you not remember how everything goes together?
I'll take a pic of my seal driver tool in the next day or so for you.
