Had sun and dry road here Christmas Eve day.... took her out for 1/2 hour..... 21 degrees ambient..... no heated gear... was fine. Ya gotta have the right gear to do that.... If it had been above 30, I would have had her out for over an hour....
Crap... you guys talking that you won't ride if it's under 50 or 40.... you're pulling my leg... right?
No idea what the wind chill was today, but the temp was -5°. Not bad layered up with heated gloves... but too much ice & blowing snow on the road, so I went back & got the Jeep.
gotta love michigan winters, but think about how much easier it is to hold on when your hands are frozen to the grips and your legs are locked in place on the pegs.
This thread reminds me when i was in high school. No helmet law and I rode to school with wet hair. I had to pull the ice out of my hair when i got there. It was only a few miles away.
-14F or C? Never the less, it's still damn cold. I wouldnt want salt residue getting onto any part of my bike, and washing it off in these cold temps is out of the question.
I've seen people in heated outfits that fit your description JaysonL. How they can manuever their bikes with thick heavy gloves is a mystery to me. No thanks.
You guys who are riding in the cold temps aren't bad *****, your idiots. Find someone to tell this crap to who thinks it's cool, not me. Just to take it for a spin and brag isn't a ride, it's just to say yeah I ride year round, I'm a real bad biker man. Frozen hands and body, yeah that's real smart.

my jacket liner is thinner than a thermal shirt.
I can still operate the presets on the radio, and all thumb switches on the EG with the G3 gloves on.
The heated outfits take the bulk away.

Why do you think riding a motorcycle, in any weather or manner, would make someone a badass?
I'm always amused by people who think you can buy a personality or attitude.
