Congrats from Michigan.
I've been told Dynas are great bikes, so that's one of the reasons I just got a new Dyna myself. I cant say for sure until Spring how great they are.
I got a feeling we are both going to be happy with the Dynas...Be safe and good luck.

[quote=archergodwin;6038864] I'm a little concerned about the question however..... you shouldn't be looking for the rev limiter on a bike that's a couple days old...
[quote]

I was thinking the same exact thing. If you are hitting the rev limit engaging the clutch on a new bike two things will happen. You will seriously shorten the life of the engine and you will need a new clutch in a few weeks. Take it easy!

Maybe its just me, but I can get on any bike and after few dead stop starts I get the feel for the clutch. They are all a bit different, but not that much.

fast idle- let it warm up longer.
Mine will lurch forward on the first shift into first after start-up. Clutch plates are still grippy and have to be broken loose. It's a normal thing that happens. Some bikes are worse than others.

Congrats on your ride and welcome to the Dyna forum.

I definitely agree with the other posts and can't add anything else. Please follow the well-born out advice in taking a riders class and read the HD Dyna manual thoroughly.

Congratulations. You'll have fun. Take it easy. Got mine last Dec. 23rd. I did the MFS course first in Oct to get my M1 endorsement. For now, I just practice around the neighborhood. Roads I am familiar with. Like you, I am practicing starting from 1st gear. I have stalled the engine a couple of times. I do remember a few times when I accelerated smoothly from a stop sign. So, practice, practice, practice. Also, I have waved several cars to go ahead on 3 or 4-way stops. Better safe than sorry. Just sharing my limited experience.

Relax, ride safely, and enjoy God's creations.
