My worst nightmare
The ride started off fairly well but once I got on the freeway my helmet strap started to come loose. I was able to secure it until I was able to pull off the freeway, onto a side road, and adjust the strap. Well while I was pulling off the side road I noticed an empty space on the side with plenty of room, so much infact I could actually park, get off the bike and adjust my helmet. When I stopped I failed to notice the slight edge near my left foot. Yup, you guessed it, my foot went right in, twisting my ankle and WORSE tipping my bike
. Now mind you the bike was at a complete stop, so the damage to my bike as supperficial, scratches on my derby cover, left mirror and clutch lever. After I composed myself, got my bike back up and gave it a visual once over, I went to start it, I it noticed a TILT indicator displayed on the Odometer. I turned my key to the off position and back on, Tilt message gone. My question is this....does the ECM store all those error messages and does the service tech check those, when conducting maintance? Reason being I'm about to have my first 500 service done, and I don't want to be hosed on the price for the service..
Man.. that bites...hope your ok... 500 mile check..?

Yeah the 500 mile check threw me for a loop as well. I need to check with the service department at my local stealer.

Tell your dealer you'll be in at 1000 miles. Better yet, do the check and fluid changes yourself. You'll get to know your bike and they are very easy to do. Save ya a lot of dough, too.
There is no 500 mile check. They are 1000, 5000, and every 5000 miles after that.

I knew that there was no 500 mile check, that was only for break-in riding, but I was told that the bike should be serviced at 2,500 miles also. Isn't this so?
