Default Pipe Cleaning

I just received a "new to me" set of Vance & Hines Pro Pipes for my Fat Bob. The previous owner did a nice job cleaning them up, and they look real nice, but I'd like to give them a good cleaning before mounting them on the bike. What do you suggest I use to clean them up? The chrome looks like its in excellent shape, a little tar and road dirt in the hard to see places. I'm planning the 103 Stage I upgrade in the next month.

I used aluminum/metal polish on my old chrome parts. gets everything off and shines great. Used a mothers polish, yet simichrome is the best stuff out there.

Spray-on oven cleaner removes light rust, tar, melted heel, etc. Spray on and wipe. Tough stuff may take two tries. If crud is really difficult follow directions on can. Pre-heat oven, er pipes, and give it time. Don't want pipes too hot. Use in ventilated area.

before you mount them, coat them in easyoff and let sit overnight.

wipe off and all the tar/road grime should come right off.

after that, any chrome polish you have will shine them up nice.

oven cleaner.

if you let it sit on the pipes it eats into the gunk and grime without damaging the chrome of the pipe.

if you let it sit overnight the crap should wipe right off. after that you can use any chrome polish to make 'em shine
