easy off is a oven cleaner with acid in it. i wouldnt use it on those propipes. windex window cleaner works without staining the chrome.

Isopropyl alcohol also works very well. Very cheap too.

There isn't much to clean, mostly on the back side where it won't show. Just figured I'd get them pristine before installing. I have windex and isopropyl, so I'll give that a shot.

Give the spot a shot of good ol' WD-40, let it sit on the tar or grime, and wipe off. Prior to starting the bike clean the chrome with windex or chrome cleaner, i.e. from Turtle wax.

I agree. WD-40 for the grime. Windex to shine 'em up.
