I use the regular old Turtle Wax Chrome Polish with Rust Remover..
Been using it for around 185 years I think.
I'll bet the can I have right now (just looking at it) is at least 15 years old. The outside of the can has rust all over it, but the polish still works fine.
Guess I should use some of it to polish the can.. [8D]
A paint spraying friend of mine said not to wax your painted parts of your bike..just in case it needed re-spraying (contaminates the paint, and hard to get rid of)....T/cut instead.
In South Florida with the sun and the bugs, it is necessary to protect the paint so it doesn't need to be resprayed. My bike is 10 yrs old and the paint looks great.
I use Blue Job, itclaims to be the world's best chrome polish, it works great. It comes in a powder for and applied with a damp cloth. Our local HD dealer sells it.
