I use Mother's chrome polish. It doesn't really make it any shinier then when it's clean. But it does help keep it cleaner longer. When it's polished up dirt and stuff just slides off so you don't have to clean it as often.
I have used Mothers, Nano Polish from Eagle One, and Flitz. All seemed to work great. Then I noticed this dull spot on the Handelbar riser, thought it was a smashed bug or something. Polished it with Mothers, good I thought it is coming off. Steped back and took a look. S---! now i got this oval spot where the dull spot was with a yellow tint! Harley dealer says I rubbed off the chrome and exposed the nickel plating!?? Never heard of such b.s.! Anyhow they say the Mothers has fine abrasives in it which will do this Of course they only recommend the Harley products So from here on its Windex or Harley Glaze on my chrome. Anyone experience anything like this??
On the Chrome, Mothers. 1000 grit steel wool and WD40 for boot marks on the pipes and rust or corrosion. I mostly use mothers if I haven't cleaned it up in a while. Otherwise windex.
On the paint, Meguires Gold and Scratch X.
On the aluminum, polishedI use Mothers. On the cast, Armor All wheel cleaner. I have tried a lot of wheel cleaners and hands down this stuff is amazing and can be bought at just about any auto or dept store. It's fairly new product and for once it does exactly what it says it does. Spray it on, rinse it off and get nice clean aluminum.
I have used Mother's and Flitz (currently Flitz) and both work well. I have learned that it is even more important to consider what type of cloth you use for cleaning and polishing.Iused to use oldt-shirts on my Yamaha cruiser. I noticed that I was leaving a lot of micro-swirls & light scratches. Nowit's micro fiber cloths only, unless I am cleaning a rough surface.
