hello all been looking at this bike on craigs list just wondering what you all thought dont know much about the dynas looking for another bike to play around with http://sd.craigslist.org/mcy/1555193586.html thanks for any help
Looks pretty nice, but not sure I'd jump on it with that many miles. That's just me. It has some nice add-on's like those bags. I typically don't consider after market stuff in the price as I would most likely remove/replace it anyway.
It all comes down to what you are looking for. 31k is pretty high, but if it was well maintained etc, it could be fine.

being a 2005 with 30,000 I'm sure its time for the cam chain tensioner at the very least
Verify the KBB is easy enough. The money saved from the difference will pay for new cam chain shoes if they haven't been changed. My other concern is if the motor has the bad valve guide seals, I'm sure the seller would have noticed this. Take offs could be sold at swap meets, or here, and maybe on e-bay.
Seems like you already have a heck of a nice touring bike. Seems buying a Dyna built into a touring bike might be self defeating. The price is good and lots of expensive extras, but only you know if its a "must have" extra bike. I use my Dyna for all the touring I do, and it does it quite well, but its the only bike I own that will make it 2 or 3 hundred miles whenever I want it to. You don't seem to have that issue. Theres pissloads of cheap Dyna's, you have all the time in the world to find the one that jumps up and says.....oh yeah, I want that bike.
That looks like a great deal to me.
30k miles for an 05... isn't that only 6k miles per yaer?
If it wern't in South Dekota... for that price it'd be in Ohio... in my garage!
Well i just noticed that the one you posted was $6,800 i thought the guy was asking KBB around $8,500 ya if you could get him to go down a little and the bike checked out id try to get him to take $6,000 cash and that would be a deal. Heck my 07 has 42,000 on it as long as he took care of it you should be ok check on the cam shoes maybe he has already done them never know.
