Default Just installed a quick release HD compact windshield

Wow, that was easy to do. The WS is a little higher than I thought it would be at 18". It comes to about my nose level when I am sitting on my Bob. I think I would like it about 1-2" shorter so I can see over it better, but I will see if I get use to it.

One thing if you buy one, make sure it is a new WS that was not restocked by HArley. My shield looked perfect, but after I installed it I noticed 1-2 little surface scratches on the shield. Doubt HD will fix it since I installed, but I did not cause it....

Thanks

There is a few inch's to move it up or down. I like mine all the way down so I can see just over the shield. I like a sheild so much now I went and bought one for my ATV. It was much more of a pain to install than the HD.

Even the new ones in sealed boxes may have scuffs. Mine did. Dealer noticed it as they installed it with several other parts I had ordered when bike was new. They let me use it until the replacement came in. I don't use it too much though. Kinda nice in bad rain and stuff.

I got a used one off eBay and it looks nearly perfect. Even all the way down on the forks I find it a bit tall as well - fine sitting in the garage but when I get out on the road and slump down the top of the shield cuts my field of vision.

Plan to chop off 1" and see how I like that. If not I'll go 2".

I have a QD and instead of chopping from the top, I cut it above the light to drop it down.

Most of the updraft comes from below the shiled, so I figured it would help with that.

I also installed some Road King deflectors on it so everything comes off in one piece.

And 2 minutes later...

That's exactly where it should be for the best possible coverage! You can lower it down till it almost hits the headlight housing.

How do you chop it off 2"? What tool do you use?

Does anything take the scuffs off a WS?
