Default ME880 question...

I've decided to buy the ME880 Metzelers for my '07 SB, but which should I get...the high mileage or the regular? Also, would any of you recommend I go with the 110 on the front instead of the stock 100 size? I went to some FXD mags off an '09 Super Glide so I know I won't need a tube now.

I've been researching hundreds of tire threads these past few days so thanks for all the info thus far HDForums members! You Rock!

as far as i know there is only one me880 for the new dynas...i have looked all over for a different type of tire but that size is not horribly popular..what do you think a wider front tire will do for you? its not that much wider, i would doubt that you would notice much difference...maybe you could check the sporty treads and see if someone has tried that there. i have 30,000 miles on my 07fxd and have had both metzler and dunlops. both were fine but the metzler seemed to handle better in the rain and on grooved roads.

good luck

I have the ME880 Marathons which I think is what you are calling high mileage. VERY happy with them and just put the second one on the rear after getting 16k on the first.
I have the 110 on my front and like it as well, especially over the stock 90 I had.
If you can get the ME880 Marathon, go for it. I found the best price at Dennis Kirk about 2 months ago.

I think he is thinking of the ME 880XXL's. I ran the 880's for a while and got great mileage. Had nearly 10000 when I sold the wheels with the tires on them. There was still some tread left on the rear.

The metzelers are great tires and they handle good in the rain! Although my mileage for the rear is alot different than others riders. But I do ride aggressive and the bikes putting out 111tq so that helps lower the life of the tire. I average about 5000 miles on a rear and I just changed the front that had 12000 on it, but still had some decent tread left. There won't be any difference between the 110 & 100 front either. Check around for best prices, I found my rear(180-55zr-18)for $170, compared to drag specialties price of $260!

Thanks guys. I was seeing "High Mileage NWS" on some store sites. I'll just go with the ME880 Marathon Touring tires. I think I'll go 110 on the front as I've heard it won't matter handling-wise, but may do a little bit better job of filling the fender gap. The back will get the 170, but I've seen VR and just R for speed rating...another thing for me to look into.

You were right, when I was looking 2 months ago, Dennis Kirk had the best prices of anyone. Now they don't. Best overall price I can find is JakeWilson.com and they are also giving an extra 10 bucks off for ordering 2 tires. Problem is they don't have the 170 right now so I'll wait a few weeks. Still snow on the ground here so no rush.

Just got my FXD mags in from Stahl1CD on the forum here, and they are now going to get show chromed. Tomorrow I need to find a local guy who will do them good. In the past I've used Chromemasters from TN, but don't feel like shipping these baby's again, and waiting up to 2 months like I did with them last time on some parts.
