Hello! I've searched all over the place for the past four hours and can't find an answer to this question:
Will a dash panel from a 2000 Softail fit a 2000 Wide Glide? OEM Softail #71273-00a OR 71250, OEM FXDWG #71246-99.
There are some threads saying they're interchangeable and others saying they're not...they look so damned close but if it won't fit, it won't fit. Aaaahhhhh!
Ok, well it looks like there's some very small difference between the two so they're not interchangeable. Does anyone have a clue as to what that difference might be?
I thought that a 2000 FXDWG and a 2000 Softail used the same tank???
Oh no the end is near.
The World will surely implode!!

Not Two Kennewickian on the same Thread!!!
Also wish I could Help But also without a clue. I think I might have a 2000 Softtail dash sitting around your welcome to it if I do. ( I'll check Tomorrow)

The Wide Glide and Softail dashes are very similar, but the tanks are not the same ... the mounting tabs on the Wide Glide are at the top of the frame tunnel, whereas the Softail tank mounting tabs are at the bottom front of the tank ....
Also, I believe the rear tank mounts may be different, as well ....
I am not sure how those differences translate to the dash mounting (or indeed if they do) ... although I often see "fitment" info that seems to imply parts for one model do not work with another model ...
While that may be 'true' ... my friend Mr Rick Miller, and I may have a different experience with certain FLST front ends which are not supposed to fit Dynas ....
Frogg, I'd love to get my hands on that Softail console just to see what the difference really is! Where are you located in PNW? Lemme know what you want for it.
Stanger and ackman...awesome rides! We'll have to hook up soon (after I replace my console, though...hahaha).
Stanger, thanks for supporting our troops...the fighting and the fallen. I was in Fallujah with my Navy Seabee reserve unit (NMCB-18) in 06/07...drove convoys delivering heavy equipment and building supplies so we could build our Marine Corps and Army brothers some decent facilities out in the craphole outposts they had to live in. It's amazing how building a working ******* or a shower can make someone's day! It taught me that it truly is the little things in life that count.
SURFOR, thanks for the great info...that's exactly what I wanted to know!
If Frogg can get me the Softail console, I'll report back on what I find out concerning fitment...maybe it's something stupid that a dremel can take care of...
