Default Maintenance thoughts?

Due to various circumstances, I didn't get a whole lot of riding in last year. I managed some decent short day rides, but didn't log a whole lot of mileage. The local dealership is offering some winter specials, and I'm debating the merits of having the bike serviced. My odometer is sitting at 8,500 miles and the 5,000 mile service was done Winter of '07/'08.

So, I'm taking votes. Ride until I hit 10,000 miles or have it serviced now.

I would wait till closer to riding season and change it then regardless of mileage. It can get moisture in it sitting over winter. I always change mine towards the end of march regardless if it's time or not.

I would give it a look over and change the fluids.
