OK Ya'll I found this stuff and was trying to think of everything that I could use it for on my bike but I'm just having a big brain fart here. It's a gun blueing formula and what all do ya'll think this stuff could be used for on the bike? Help Me out here I dunno if it would work on chrome or aluminum I know it works on stainless. Here's the site check it out there's a little demonstration video on the site at the top it start automatically. http://www.shootersolutions.com/gunblue.html
Can't remember where I saw it but a few years ago there was a bike that the whole frame and tins were blued. It looked sweet, don't know how it would hold up over time though.
Gun bluing is just a form of oxidation and it is a very poor finish for wear. If you like that color perhaps a gloss powdercoat would be a better alternative.
Evil Spirit Engineering built a bike that was featured in The Horse a while back that was had engine bluing all over it. It takes to every surface but the color will be different depending on what it is put on.
that stuff seems pretty cool, I was thinking of using it on my fork tubes, but its not durable? I've heard it doesnt change the thickness of the item applied to. But the mention of it not being tough worries me.

yeah thats kinda the same thing I'm thinking... I was thinking of what you could use it for I was wanting to use it on my fork tube, heat shields, points cover, primary cover, and belt gaurds but now I dunno what do you guys think? And if you clear coated it would it stop the oxidation but keep the color?

Yeah, just bluing alone will not withstand the weather, now bluing and then a clear coat, would look cool!

yeah but will it keep that color if you clear coat it? I know the guy on the site had to wipe it down with what looked like gun oil to get it to turn back blue after drying it.
Bluing would look cool, until it got wet. You have to store rifles in a climate controlled area, and keep them oiled constantly so they don't rust. Ever see an old Army M16?
Although, It would probably be easier (and cheaper) to give your bike a quick wipedown with CLP every once in a while than polishing the chrome.
