Default Fork Seal Kit??

Putting in Progressive Springs in the forks on my '07 FXDB Bob...49mm stock Showa forks....is there a fork seal kit HD part number out there? Searched and can't find one. Guessing I need oil seals, dust seals. Anything else? Can I reuse the retaining clip?

Some of you that have done the fork spring change....did you just buy the individual seals from your dealer? Or is there a package with them all together?

Thanks!

Hey friend, if all you're doing is just fork springs, you don't need any of that stuff. When you remove the remove the fork caps on top, you are taking out the stock metal spacer, and stock washer, and stock spring. You put back in progressive spring, stock washer, and either cut the stock spacer down or cut the pvc spacer that comes with your progressive springs to the required height. If you really, really, really wanted to, you could replace the fork cap o rings. What I would recommend you do though, is you are allready gonna have em apart, change your fork oil out, with fresh clean stuff, your choice, I run 10w amsoil in my ride including the forks.

Tear it a part.

Then look to see if you need more than just seals and the dust covers. A few have needed to replace the bushing, just inspect it for wear. If not, oil...seals..dust covers. GTG.

I went to the dealer to order these, I was told if they look to be in good condition not to bother. they told me that they usually get a couple uses out of them; so I didn't bother.

If you really want to know these part numbers I'll get em from my archives here, because I have replaced them all, but that's only because I just had my lower sliders apart for powdercoating, but for springs only that you are doing, again, you don't need any thing other than you ought to change your fork oil and if you wanted to change something, the fork caps have an o ring each but they stay pretty well pristine shape unless you had em apart a bunch of times then I'd change em.

Oops, forgot to mention I'm powdercoating the lowers! Sorry 'bout that...but thanks for responding. I knew I'd get more replies after the Super Bowl ended!

Part numbers for the seals I will need would be great. I'm ordering some wheels from that Chicago HD place that gives 20% off everything and I want to throw the seals on there too.

Just a minute, I'll get em for ya.

Okay got it,
As far as a kit goes, no there is not a fork seal kit, I asked hd too, they said no.
So here it is

46516-01 GUIDE BUSHING $4.13 2 $8.26
46515-01 SEAL SPACER $2.13 2 $4.26
46512-01 DUST SEAL ASSY $7.21 2 $14.42
46080-01 GUIDE BUSHING $5.48 2 $10.96
46508-01 O-RING $1.29 2 $2.58
46615-06 PACKING SEAL $1.29 2 $2.58
46514-01 Seal Oil

This is all the stuff I ordered, you need to get minimum the oil seals, everything else looked pretty good on mine except the guide bushings. As you can see by the price, just order everything, that way your covered, they are not all that much. Obviously everything is times 2 for both forks.

Yup... Harley is smart enough to not offer a kit. You can buy kits from aftermarket companies.

My attitude about replacing the seals when you have the forks apart is you should replace all of them, because you already have the forks apart and it sure would suck to blow a seal a few weeks or months down the road and have to tear them apart again.

After powdercoating my lowers I needed to replace the fork seals, and my indy used a set of aftermarket seals that were "lifetime". I can't tell you what brand they were. Actually, my real point is for you to make sure that all the crap is out of the lowers from the pc. It takes a lot less time to flush them out than to replace the seals (and bushings) a few miles down the road.
