I was going to post these questions in the electrical and lighting section, but there isn't much activity there, so I thought I would try here.
I have a 2000 DWG and have all stock lighting, but I have moved the front direction/run lights to the forks. I believe the better the lighting the more visable you are to other drivers. I was thinking about getting the lighting module for the rear turn signals that make them a run/turn/brake light, but before I start down that road I'm thinking maybe I should be looking at the complete lighting system before I buy a few parts and then decide to change everything after. My funds are also very limited at this time, so I do want to get the biggest bang for the buck.
My questions are:
1. Should I change all four lights to LEDs, are they a lot brighter?
2. I like the look of the smaller bullet lights, but am I defeating the purpose if I go with smaller LEDs instead of the bigger LEDs?
3. If you suggest changing to all LEDs which brand (supplier/manufacture) would you recommend using?
4. If I do go to all LEDs will I need to make other changes to the electrical system?
5. For the rear turn signals to be run/turn/brake who's module is the best and why?
6. Is there a bulb you would recommend that I change to in the headlight that will make it brighter and whiter?
Thank you for your help and recommendations,

try custom dynamics. Their front LED kit is top notch and very reasonably priced. HID lights are awesome. I have HID on the Navigator and the difference is amazing vs having standard bulb lighting. For the rear, the run brake turn is a great idea. I actually have a brake turn module that came on mine when I bought it. IMHO that is better for 1 main reason, when I hit the brakes it is much more dramatic than if the turn signals were on all the time. Also the smaller bullet lights are so much better looking than the huge older model signals like what you have. They put out plenty of light as well.
I changed all my turn sigs to LED and my brake light as well. Had to use a load manager to adjust to power. Pretty easy install. Other riders always tell me how much more noticable they are over stock run lights. I also changed my rear turn sigs to Run/ Brake/ Turn. Just for the added lighting. Your choice...but they do serve a purpose and look real good. The Rear of the bike really lights up when braking! Badlands makes some products to check out and I have never been disappointed in their product. Just be careful with the headlight. Some high wattage light can heat up quite a bit and can melt parts or wires. I only have a stock headlight but am looking to switch to a brighter/ whiter light as well. still looking. good luck with your mod.
LEDs are a matter of taste. Headlights get plenty of discussion on HDF. Here in the UK one of our bike mags called 'Ride' just published an extensive test of the high performance bulbs available to us. The 'Philips X-treme Power' came out on top, if you can get them over there.
