Default seat question

I know there are alot of posts about seats, but here is another one.

I am looking for a solo seat (that I can put pillion with later).
Mostly I am looking for a comfortable all day seat.
I like a flat seat, atleast not contured like a bowl. I would like it to move me back if posible.

Usually it is my back that bothers me after a long all dayer, so if a removable back rest is available that would be evan better but not a deal breaker. This sounds strange but I don't really like the feel of a tall lip that is part of the seat behind me. With my stock seat I am always trying to scoot back but always end up sliding back forward.

Here is whatI have tried, spread out over the last 3 years. stock seat, corbin classic solo ( didn't like the contured bowl thing), and stock seat with gel and memory foam inserted (not much improvement over stock to me)

OPen to all suggestion.

Check out C&C seats http://ccseats.com/dyna.htm and take a look at their solo seat. I'm not sure how flat you're looking for but this is as flat as I've seen. As far as a removable backrest, call them, they may be able to custom make one for you if they don't already have it available. I've talked to the guys there, they're very cool to talk with.

I do like the looks of all the c&c seats. Are these seats I can ride in all day.
At this point I am looking for something that lets me ride as much as I want with out feeling it in my back and looks will come second.

thanks for that link

that low pro solo is awesome!!!! I cannot ride their seats, the way their pan is done is uncomfortable to me. Otherwise, I would have their seat.

I don't believe the C&C solos can have a backrest. I emailed them and didn't get a clear answer but there are no photos of them on the site.

I loved the Mustang I had on my old Shadow years ago - 500 mile days were nothing. Now that I'm a bit older I really appreciate a backrest, at least for longer rides. The Vintage solo won't take a backrest - have to get the Wide. I'm worried that might not look right on my StreetBob so I'm waiting until Bikeweeks the end of the month. Mustang will have a place set up at Destination Daytona. I'm betting they'll have seats there they will put on your bike so you can see how it looks and feels.

Going down there March 5 so I'll let you know what I think if you can wait that long.

oh one thing that didn't make since in my orignal post

when I said flat what I meant was side to side, not necesarily flat as in thin, I just don't like the way some seats cradle you in to one position. I like to be abel to move around a little

I dunno... the shape just was not right for me. My first seat I bought for my bike was a 2 up of theirs... the pain was excruciating for me and my wife was in pain within 10 minutes of riding it. I honestly think I am the only one yet to ever not find their seats comfortable on these forums, or the only one willing to admit it...

If you have a seat which qualifies as good, send it to Mean City Cycles and they will make it great. Brent and Allen are class acts. They offer many options and their attention to detail is stellar!

Check them out:

The shipping from AZ to NC, and back, wasn't cheap but, worth every penny!

Be safe; Ride often,
Charlie
