hell... im willing to spend 3k to lighten my bike... with nearly 40lbs off the bike i imagine it would make it HELLA quick from a stop. ya know... just as long as you can keep the front wheel donw haha.
these wheels are tempting, your going to spend a good 3 grand on custom wheels anyways. why not take 40lbs off your bike?
Ive read that every 10lbs you lose in weight you will gain 1 HP, In that case you would be gaining almost 4 HP going to this wheels!
I had a very good run on this topic...A good friend of mine who is a good rider has a v-rod with a pipe! We did a handfull of races in one ride last year & the rollin on at 5mph was consistent every time! I would pull away from him till about 75 mph (not far, I could turn my head slightly & see from the corner of my eye), then he'd slowly make his way back but aint even again till right at 115mph every time we'd roll on & race! We're both pretty damn good riders so this was a pretty fair deal! All in all if we were at the track I'd barely beat him cause a 115 is an 11sec run & my bike don't run 11's in the quarter!
Prior to my '09 FXDB, I had a '99 FXDX with a 95" kit, cams, headwork, Mikuni carb and RB Racing 2-1 pipe...never beat by a V-rod through the 1/4. I also had a 2000 Buell Lightning that could easily spank a V-rod (and did on more than one occasion).

oh cool! i didnt know that! i wonder how big of a difference carbonfiber fenders would make? or maybe carbon-fiber engine accessories and what not? i think if i can shave off as close to 100 pounds as i can off my dyna i could beat a vrod... never was a big fan of chrome anyways.

Maybe I can give a good answer because I own a 2009 FXDC with a 103 stage 3 kit and I thought for a Harley it was pretty fast. I just bought a 2012 Nightrod special after 1,000 miles changed the exhust improved the air cleaner and had it put on a harley dyno to tune it and increase the rev limiter and the Vrod is hands down faster
I ride '11 SB my wife rides '11 Night Rod, i take her bike out now and again and seems like someone always tries to mess with you, i got the speed thing out of my system when i was young, but there was this total **** head one time with his stretched out GSXR talking so much junk i had to see what he's made of, after it was over he didn't even want to talk he just kept on going, V-rods will eat anything up, just my opinion.
I have a 2008 Nightrod Special Vrod and I use to own a 2007 Dyna Street Glide. The Vrod will leave a Dyna in the dust, period. The Vrod hp and tq is all up high and it's pulls all the way to 9000rpm's, the dyna's power is all down low and it runs out of steam as it rev's. The Vrod will just walk away from it. Not to mention the dyna's power drops off as it starts to get hot. lol
