I installed my SE A/C but have a question as to whether or not I did it right.
With the stock A/C, the filter was enclosed between the Chrome cover and the black plastic bowl. Hence, the only way air would get in was from the hole towards the front of the football.
If I did it right, that black plastic bowl was tossed out. Now, I have the chrome cover screwed into the filter, but the edges of teh cover don't touch anything. So, if you look from the side, you can see the filter. Is this correct? Won't I get water in the filter this way?
I have the SE air cleaner on my Lowrider and NO filter cover at all. I just bolted a cover insert on top of the filter so the element is completly exposed. I have riden in the rain several times ( I live in Louisiana ) and have never had a problem......
I also run an open A/C cover. I have the K&N filter though. I have been caught in rain several times with no problems. Normally when I wash the bike I will throw the football back on to protect from water, but last time i forgot to and it was still fine. Maybe the oil in the K&N helped, I don't know. I guess what I'm trying to say is, with the football on...no worries about water. Running an open A/C very little worries.
