Novello question
Hey all, im in the middle of a 16" ape install on my 08 fatbob. Im using the kit from HCC, looked at all the posts, and researched alot. I dont have the novello extensions (yet). My question is, the wires coming out of the bars at the riser do not have the connectors on them, this is how they arrive from hcc. Do I order the novellos, cut one connector off of one end of the novello wires, solder and heat shrink these together leaving the connector on the other and then plug into my deutschs?
Just wanted to find out, and to see if I even need the novellos. Anyone do this without the extensions? I wouldnt mind avoiding a week wait for extensions to show up, so that I can get this all done. Thanks

the novello kit as a male and female connector on the opposite ends of the wires. It also comes with shrinkwrap. Now the connector that will slide over your current wiring male end, will be loose. I recommend you clamp the two together tight then install the shrinkwrap. Hopefully you have a set of those standard wire crimpers/cutters around for this.
ahhhhh got it that makes sense looks like im ordering a novello kit, I might check the local hd also, but that would be just so i could get to work on it tonight instead of waiting til next week.
Why not just buy some wire and solder and heat shrink it yourself? Really no reason to buy a wire extension kit if you can solder wire. Shrink tubing is readily available, even at Lowes or Home Depot.
The kit works great. No need to cut any wires. I pulled the gas tank off my Sportster and installed the kit under the tank. They come color coded so it's just red to red and black to black and so on, very nice.

Actually, heres a little update. I wont need the novello or namz, the wires are plenty long enough to get to the harness on their own. The next step is crimping pins to the wires, thanks to sc longhair and the rest of the posts here ive been able to get the deutsch connectors apart. I found a good crimp tool on ebay from an aircraft outlet that does these types of pins it looks like. I didnt have the dinero for the 250 to 300 dollar crimpers. So its all going ok, im just waiting on parts to get here from all over more or less now. Thats the part I hate about this is being in the middle of the job and waiting on shipments.
thanks guys for your help, ill keep the novello stuff in mind and the namz also i appreciate the help ride safe
