has anyone ever tried just changing the o2 sensor to get a different signal to the ecm.it seems that would be a better solution if it could be done that way

You can make your own xied style signal changer cheaper and easier and you can play with different resistors and get the change you want. I have the xied got them from ebay 40.00 used. next month going with the pc v and a stage 1 air cleaner i picked up here. They did help with the heat, but not so much the performance. se stage 1 exhaust and heat is less than stock exhaust.

I don't think you will find O2 sensors with different voltage ranges beside the Wideband and narrowband type. Those voltages are significantly different. Resistors are a lot less $$ than special order sensors.
