Put Stabil in the tank when I put the bike away in November but didn't run the gas out of the float bowl like I usually do so it gummed up a bit (gas shooting out into air cleaner when I started it). What to do?
Try some spray carb cleaner
or
just dump some carb cleaner in tank
or........ you get the idea.
I tried tapping on the carb to try to loosen things up but didn't help much. If I need to clean out the float bowl is it possible (easy) without removing the carb? Like most things I usually find out they are fairly easy to do but I just have not had this prob before.
should you want to clean the float bowl, remove air cleaner and breather bolts. Then slip off the carb and unscrew the 4 screws and pull the float cover off. then clean and replace. I recommend replacing the screws with some allen head bolts. With the allen head bolts there is no need to remove the carb to remove the float bowl.
Thanks guys, I got it sorted out. I shut the fuel off and ran it till the bowl was empty, tapped on the bowl a few times, put some Gumout in the tank, started it up and then gave it some spray carb cleaner that fixed the prob with the gas shooting out of the carb. The thing actually idles and runs smoother than it ever has. I then changed the oil and filter and cleaned and oiled the air filter. Next week end I'm gonna change out the transmission oil. Lesson learned> dont forget to run carb dry before storing for the winter. This is the first year I've forgotten to do it fortunately only cost me about $13 to fix.
