I just figured out my Garmin 350 doesn't allow for inputing your own routes. With my GSX-R...that was no problem cause all I wanted to do was get to my destination so my *** and back would quit hurting No since I just got my FXDF...and enjoy the long rides, looks like I'll be looking for a new GPS...

So my question for those of you who use GPS on their bike, have you noticed any problems from vibration/moisture/giant flying bugs that make it worth the roughly 400 extra dollars that a motorcycle only GPS costs?
I have been using Garmin Nuvi 760 in RAM Mount but (1) this solution was not waterproof and (2) I had one more "box" to take care of.

So I decided to use my iPhone in weatherproof bag that is attached to tank using the magnet from the tankbag (see photos).

My cheap Garmin NUVI is still working fine after several hundred miles "aerodynamically" riding on the tank.

Perhaps against better judgement, I simply suction cup it to the tank when I need to use it. Don't like crowded bars anyway.

So far so good. Less damaging vibrations on the tank than on the handlebars I tell myself, especially on rough roads

The magnet doesn't cause any problems with the memory on your iPhone?

EBay has cheap Garmin GPS handlebar mounts with ball socket adapter for around $8.00, Rubber strap around handlebar and removes easily. Works good for me. Only problem I have is my display is not bright enough on sunny days with brightness turned all the way up.

I purchased the handle bar mount off ebay $23.00. The mounts ball fits a standard GPS mounting base. Refurbished Garmin Nuvi I purchased off of Radio Shacks web site for $53.00. They have outstanding discounts on their refurbs.

Default Garmin 205

I use a Garmin 205 with a RAM handlebar mount...I got the mount originally for my cheapo Jap bike, the mount broke and now i screwed it into my quarter fairing as you can see in the pic....i've only used it a handful of times in the last year or so, but I've never had one problem...

IMO, as long as you mount it somewhere with the least vibration and with the least possibility of rain hitting it, no problems should arise

You should try this mount I got off of ebay. Its has a very small footprint and works great with the garmins, I've never had it move at all unless I moved it. Opps, what skunkdog said ...
