no worries, i like questions. the first thing i did was use 250 grit sand paper to get off all the rust and also to prep the area for paint. total time to do it was around 3 hours but in that time i sanded everything on the rim that wasn't rubber. then i laid down 2 coats of gray primer as a base coat before putting on 3 coats of rustoleum flat black.

one more thing, avoid blue and invest in green painters tape. it sticks better and if you paint like i do your gonna need at least 5 rolls of 2 inch to cover up everything except for the rim itself.

i don't have any up close shot but i'll take some today and post them so you can get a better look. I will say this much, if you take the wheel off and apart you'll get a much better result than mine. i left them on the bike when i did it so the whole wheel was painted as one assembly. i didn't have the resources to get the wheels off at the time
