Harley is running commercials right now saying that they are putting up a billion dollars of their own money to get more people on Harley's. We'll see how serious they are. They have a long way to go to get my trust. I have been visiting the dealerships lately because I am considering getting a Road King Classic. These dicks here in OKC wouldn't budge on a leftover 2009 with a price of $19400-with NO options other than silver paint and factory alarm. I spent alot of time on the phone with several of the idiots at the 2 dealerships here and they all insist that a 2009 is not last years model, "because nothing changed on the 2010 model". No one was in one of the stores I was in, an I called 15 minutes later to compain about the sales person and ask if she was correct about the price and the sales manager tells me 6 people were banging on his office trying to buy a bike. I had just left and it was freaking dead!!! They are on a sinking ship and I really don't care if half of them are forced to close shop.

The bottom line is this, don't let them jerk you around. Wait for the good deal and make them work for your business. These bastards are leaches and don't give a **** about you or how hard you work for your money.

I am not sure if it is the lack of competition with dealerships going under or what but I have been looking locally for a bob for the G/F and I am seeing them priced over MSRP again but with the dealer offering a grand or more in accessories. Sometimes I wonder if their perception of the buying public being stupid actually pays off for them.

Around here they seem to give away the sportsters, and the softails but ding the chit out of you for a touring bike or the fatbobs.

base price for a Fat bob is 14,999, throw in tax, title and shipping, expect a tag to be anywhere tween 15,500 to 16,700 depending on their particular fees and taxes per state...
Good luck trying to shave those #'s

Best bet would be to get them to throw in some gimme's: Helmets, warranties, tire replacement warranty. extended warranty. Items like this cost little to them, but guarantee your return for service. and further shopping.

Its rough out here lately, and although im not defending them, clearly they dont deserve it, theyre less inclined to budge on a price.

Mykim, i dont know your location, but if your in the NorthEast, South Jersey, Delware area, those 4-5 dealerships down there are insane with their prices, and their gimmes. I hear nothing but good things about those guys down there.

Give em a call.

Before you buy new and I'd suggest looking for a used bike from a private party. Last month I bought a 09 FXDF with less than 1000K on it. Guy was asking 14K... I offered 12.5K cash on the spot. Deals to be had on craig's list for sure.

The dealers are just out to run a business. They respond to demand and supply and they are trying to get the best deal for themselves and their employees, same as you and me. If HD dealers go out of business, where will the new ones come from that will turn into tomorrows used deals??

Just remember one thing, all HD dealers are selling the same products. If one doesn't want to deal, go to another dealer! As for HD financing, you might want to check your local credit union. HD is known to get a little ridiculous when it comes to interest rates. If your going with HD for financing, know your credit score beforehand, so you have a idea on where you stand. Some dealers will mark up a interest rate to make some additional $$$. I had a buddy last year that was looking at a '09 fxdc and the first dealer offered him 8.9% through HD, the second dealer offered him 4.9% again with HD, his credit score was 815! He ended up going through his bank and got 2.9%!

Give a call to Dwane at Bear Sports Center in PA.
I got 4 bikes from him in the last 2 years and my pals got about 6 more. No one came even close to his prices. the guy is a great person and service is top of the line.
If it helps, tell him Sammy sent you.

When I shopped several dealers for the FatBob last year during May (not the best time to negotiate on a bike), the best I could do was MSRP, no setup/delivery fee and roughly $300 value in coupons. You typically only find better deals when they have 5 or 6 of the same bike in stock. Its a business they run and most of their business models needs MSRP plus some work for the service department.

I went to Central Harley in Olathe, KS and the customer service was crap waited for probably 15min to see if someone wanted to help and no one came to offer assistance. Then went to Gails Harley in Grandview, MO and the customer service was great but price to steep then called Blue Springs Harley in MO and they had a Black Pearl showing up sometime that week but told me the price and said they wouldn't come down on price because they were flying off the showroom(cocky salesman). So on Leap day Feb. 29th 2008 went to Worth Harley in NKC, MO on my Lunch break and we talked deals and they sold the Black Pearl Harley to me from Bluesprings haha but there customer service and willing to deal are what made it for me... I have a moderate interest rate but it was appropriete to my credit rating at that time... I told them I didn't want the clothing deal (1000 Gift card to them) and said I'd take that off the bike and then as we were talking I told them another 500 off and i'd give em 2000 cash down so we worked a deal and i missed the rest of my day at work messing with the paperwork... But all in all I think I paid 14999-1500 so 13500 then gave 2000 down dropping the financing to 11500 plus the 345? for the black pearl then setup crate blah blah and told them to keep their extended warranty... But I thought it was a good deal for me at the time... moral of my long story is do your homework and mix deal with service to find the best deal...
