Now being new to Harley's, I assume the "B" motor is the balanced version for rigidly mounting them in the frame correct?? "A" is for the rubber mounted bikes??
Yepper. Two shocks tucked between the swingarm and trans and above the lower frame rails on the Softy's. Much harder to get at than the Dyna's or Touring HD's.
Softail's are also affectionately called "Sloptail's" because they don't react as well as the other HD's. Truthfully this doesn't really say much because all 2 shock swingarm bike's handle poorly compared to singe shock Sport, Dual Purpose, Dirt bikes, or other cruisers with mono shocks.
Way better handling on Dyna vs Softy, I rented one and rode through the mountains of Jackson Hole and was being out rode by two up's on Goldwings and a couple of school busses full of children. I should have rented the Ultra.
Years ago when I lived on the island, I rode Brit bikes. They handled...
The Softail has a swingarm that must weigh nearly 100lbs; a lot of weight for the suspension to control when the riding gets aggressive or roads are not smooth or both. I can't wait to get back down to the Island on my T-Sport...some beautiful roads down there.
-Loaded question. Ask the same in the softtail section you get different answers.
I have experience with both.
I ride the sh*t out of my bikes and can say that the dyna handles WAY better, especially ridden hard.
The softail is a very cool look, and thats about it.
I have rode every class of hd bikes. the dyna will surely handle better than the softails. The softails do seem to have a better ride IMO. Ive had my bike in corners with guys that ride crotch rockets. Hands down they can get lower than me but they couldnt believe how it handled on the twisties for a harley.
