Heres a couple of cheapo mods I did over the past few snowy days. Textured painted the battery band, painted the cowbell, and picked up a forkbag. Im kinda on the fence with it, but itll be nice for storage when me and the chick go for a day trip. I also built a pretty kickass starter disable circuit since I hate carrying around my key to lock the ignition switch. Heres some pics...
pretty good bro...I recently did my battery band in a wrinkle finish I wasn't able to pull off as clean a job as you did...ever consider putting the tool bag on the A frame...not that is bad on the fork, but just another option for you to consider...
The key to getting the wrinkle paint to turn out flawless it to bake it in the over at 300 degrees for about 5-8 min between coats. Two heavy, bake, one more medium, bake, let it sit for a day, and vola, perfect! And by A frame, do you mean back by the belt guard?
the instructions on the spray paint did say to bake in oven...I was being lazy and took a blow dryer to it...worked ok but I couldn't get one spot to come out right...I guess tomorrow I'll try again and bake it in the oven like I'm supose to...as for the "A" frame, perhaps I'm using the wrong terminology...I meant the part of the motorcycle frame behind the fork...where I placed my tool bag (sig pic)...however, the swingarm (side opposite of exhuast) is also an option...I find a tool bag a necessary evil...I don't really like the look of my scoot with the tool bag but I don't ride without it...
Oh, Im with ya now. I knew it was either there or where I mentioned. Does your bag get soaked in the rain down there?? And as far as the paint is concerned, I literally just now redid my cowbell in wrinkle finish between posts. It only takes that long when you bake it in the oven. I did two heavy coats, baked for 6 min, one more heavy, baked for 5 min, checked for inconsistancys, sprayed one last coat to level it all out, baked for 5 min, and will let it sit till tomorrow evening before I throw it back on.

man I'm on thefence when it comes to the cowbell...I'm not trying to totally black out my scoot...I just want a touch of chrome here and there for contrast...I may end up painting my cowbell tomorrow when I re-paint my battery band...as for the toolbag...it only gets soaked during a really heavy downpour...for the most part it's not a big deal at all...I do carry my tools in the fork bag and the tools are wrapped in a canvas bag...I bet if you search around a bit you'll find another WG ownder with a tool bag on the lower frame so you can see if you like it better...I did drill a hole through the back of my tool bag and detached one of the engine mount bolts and ran the bolt through the inside of the tool bag to give the tool bag better support...then I attached the leather straps to the frame...again just another idea...
