Opinions: Switching outer primary cover
I am thinkng of changing the outer primary cover to a chrome or a black one. One of the big problems I'm having with this is that the Primary cover is so huge and ugly. I wonder if anything good can be done with it. When you look at that side of the bike it's all you see. And if I switch to another color I don't really have anything on the other side of the bike to change out that would come anywhere near to balancing that huge primary casing out.
I have forward controls. Is the switch a big job?
I'd also like to get opinions on what you guys think would be the best color...vivid black or chrome to go with the color scheme I have...
Is switching to an open belt primary a good idea? Any drawbacks? I do think they look cool. It would get rid of that big clunky casing and take a huge amount of visual weight off that side of the bike.
I know, lots of questions but this has been bugging me for some time.
PICTURES WILL HELP!!!! TIA
I on the other hand love the chrome covers on the silver motor. I think it really gives it a clean look.
While it may be hard to tell my bike is a standerd 08 SG and I added the entire chrome motor package to mine. While the primary is larger, having chrome exhaust and chrome cam and transmission covers on the other side balances out well.
The outer Primary cover is a easy job with a manual and a little mechanical ability.
I was going to do mine a piece at a time but the cost savings on buying the entire package at once was huge. At the time it was less than $200 over a primary cover to get the Cam cover, both transmisson covers, upper and lower rocker covers and tappets covers.
