I heard that this can cause the welds in the tank to crack.I assume the welds that secure the tank brackets.
Anyone have this experience?
dont know about others mate, but i've never heard of it..
I wanted 2.5 inch lift so I made my own with a couple pieces of aluminum, acorn nuts, washers and paint.
About $15 in materials gives you enough to make 6 or 7 of em.
Not that you need that many, but you can get with a couple buds and split the cost, or use the leftover material for other things. I've used it for a few different things.
Or just buy jackyls....which comes as a kit. They are very nice.

There is no reason in the world for this to happen. The lift mounts in the stock location so there should be no added stress to the tabs that I can see. I have had mine Jackyl lift on for two years with no problems at all.
has anyone done one on a circa 1998 fxdl? i would like to use jackyls kit
thx - tin
I don't see why not. Look on his ebay page. He has photos of various years and models.

Not that hard. Just get some steel stock. Drill it to the height you want. I suggest no more than 2" or so. I had a 3" on my WG and it was just too much. You have to think about the crossover line. I ended up cutting mine down to 2" and re-welding it. Looks good if I do say so myself.

I gave my ol'man a Jackyl 2" lift for his 99' Wide Glide. Pops said he fought with it a little bit, but he also had a full tank of gas when he installed by himself...
