I'm a newbie here and I picked up my first Harley yesterday so needless to say I am a greenhorn. Bought a 1984 FXRT and the problem is that I am short and I need to do something about the forward position of the foot rests. I would like to leave them in place and add pegs in a more traditional position or move the platforms so I can shift with my toe and not my heel. Any advice would be appreciated becuase to me it doesnt look like the foot platforms can be moved with existing brakets? Here are a couple pics so you can see what I mean.
Welcome to the forum from the Netherlands & congrats on the scoot!
What I can see from the images it seems to me those floorboard & mounts came from a softail.
IMO you'll need the parts as shown in attachment to return to the mid-controls.
Unfortunately I could not find the OEM p/n's.
Searching Ebay using FXRT as a query, several auctions popped-up for mid controls.... This one (Ebay item number 360248375331) comes from Elvis' Place (he has more!)
My advice: try to find the OEM p/n's (at a dealer's) and monitor Ebay for the parts you need!
Good luck & ride safe,

well you can leave the floor boards where they are and put the stock pegs back on, depending on if you like the way that looks, heres some pictures i just went and took of my bike and a website that might help you out. it's pretty simple, the brackets bolt to the frame....
Please tell me this is an April Fools joke. Nobody really rides like this, do they?
I was beside myself all the way home riding like this! Its a ridiculous setup! Thanks for the replies. I am glad its not just me that thinks this is wrong. Cant wait to get it setup proper!!!
