Had the sceamin' eagle 180 with matching 100 front mounted on my FXD35 today. It has competely transformed this bike! gone is the flexy flier, it handles as good as some of the european sportbikes I've owned in the past! It leans over effortlessly and feels planted to the road at all times! This bike should have had these mounted before it left the showroom floor! oregonrider.
I had the 180 on before I left the dealer.. So I cant compare but it sure feels good to me.
Is the front GT502 100/90-19 very much differant that the stock 100/90-19?
I think the front makes more difference than the back. I can run along the ragged edge of patched over layments on the bad mountain road I live on with no feeling that there is a hinge in my frame like with the stock tires. Even runnig 20 to 25 mph faster than the caution speed in curves with bumps, potholes and overlayments it tracks solid! I hated that stock front tire. Even on smooth curves it would cause the bars to wallow abit at higher speeds. oregonrider.
I've read posts of people who changed the rear with out the kit, I went for the kit. I think it is just some brkts. to move the wires to the side and maybe a spacer for the pulley. Rear was $265 which includes the tire. Front was $114. Labor was about $140 which includes changing both tires.oregonrider.
I like where this thread has gone and I would like to half-highjack it if possible. I have never ridden a bike with a skinny 21 x 2.15 inch wheel and matching skinny front tire. I figure if the stock front tire on my Bob wiggles over tarpatch lines in the road then those WG and custom tires must be terrible. I have plans to add a custom front wheel with cobalt blue spokes in the future and I've been wanting to this with a wide 21" wheel and tire and not a narrow one. Anybody else with experienced opinions on skinny fronts vs. wide fronts please weigh in.
