Hope your rattle can job turns out better than mine! My paint work came out okay, but the Krylon clear coat sucks! What did you use to protect your finish?
when you were painting up the bike I thought you were using a gun? anyways, better to put a coat of cheap paint on there till you can get it done the way you want as opposed to running primer. To me all motorized things look better in black.
That was my original plan. The guy whose equipment I was going to use always seemed too busy and when 5pm hit he was out the door. He even bought a gallon of GM gloss black. He told me to go out back and practice shooting paint on some of the old sheetmetal out back. Since never having used a paint gun before I didn't really want to just do it. Not my equipment...I'd rather the guy take some time and show me the ins and outs of it. Maybe I can find some cheap take offs and play with them during the year. I still kick myself for passing up a FI pearl white/silver WG tank for $150 at the swap meet last Nov. Aside from a small nick located where the dash would cover it up, it was perfect.

That sounds like a cool scheme. Looking forward to it.

Umm....I didn't. Probably a bad idea but my time was very limited. I did use the dupli-color high build primer and I really liked it. I used Rustoleum Gloss Black acrylic enamel. If I rattle-can again, I'll use Dupli-color brand.

It's growing on me fast.
I appreciate everyone's comments though. It's been an experience. I can't tell you how many times I dropped a wet fender or touched the paint before it was time. I'm an expert at wet sanding now.
I know those large runs on the tank are going to grate on my nerves.
Anyway, I'm getting dressed and putting some miles on. You've no idea how badly I need to do that.
