Default Forward controls ground clearance...

I have a '08/09 Dyna FXD, with mid controls. I want to install H-D forward controls. Will the lean angles be much worse?

No. I have ridden new dynas with both and I dig the forward controls. I have ridden a lot of sport bikes and thought I would be more comfrotable with the mids but I like the forward controls a lot more. I can throw my bike in to a corner and pull it out with no issues.

My forwards are the first thing to touch down. I could lean it even further with mids, but my legs don't do mids. Since I raised the bike with shocks and springs, it's much harder to make 'em touch.

The forward controls are the same height as the mid controls so the lean angle shouldn't change. However the angle of your feet may change a lot. My heel sticks down much farther with forwards and they're usually the first thing to hit (sometimes it's the muffler). The heels of both my boots are scraped from corning.

I think it depends on the forwards. There are a few diff types out there. Mine have stirrups and are very wide, so they scrape easily, before mids would.

I'm going to design some pegs with little wheels at the end to eliminate this problem!!!!!!! Kinda like training wheels

My sb came with fwds (used). I haven't ridden any of the newer dynas with mids, so I can't say about the difference, but I have to be in a pretty deep lean to scrape.
