I have a 03 DWG and when I'm at an idle my speedometer and odometer work when I take off they quite working and go out, and the turn signals won't go out after I have made a turn , but other then that everything works fine, I have checked the connections under the cover on the tank and all is good, anyone have any idea what the hell is going on, PLEASE Help.
I think that the turn signals are manual and must be turned off. On my '05 they go off automatically but on earlier models they did not. The speedometer/odometer disappearing should not happen.
Nope, I have a '02 and turn signals go off automatically when I make a turn. Have no idea of the problem, but there definitely is one. Sorry I can't help. Have you read the post from "turn signals even HD can't fix"? It mentions how to get the code for whqat is wrong.
Good luck.
Time to change the speed sensor located on the transmission. It's held on with a single bolt and you can see it behind the exhaust pipe from the carb side, and don't waste your time cleaning the filings off it as it will work for a week and go out again then, but you can clean it to verify your problem and the fix.
It works your speedo, cancels your signals and other things also. Not an expensive item, you might want to switch your trans lube to redline shockproof heavy and it will avoid this situation in the future as you don't get the shavings with it and it shifts better. JMHO
The older ones were better because they used a reed switch in the speedo that actually worked on speed/distance, much better than todays modern speedo's.
