Default needing forward control conversion help

have 08 street bob and can't stand the mid controls
i'm wanting to convert to forward controls soon but can't decide where to buy...
they seem a little pricey I was hoping I could just extent the current controls rods..

Do i need the kit?

and does anyone know where i can get it for a decent price?
j&p has them for like $250 at lowest with gold club

thanks

I looked at a lot of them before I just went and bought the Harley Kit in black for my wifes bike. With 20% off they were not that much more expensive that some of the cheaper ones. Using the mids I dont think is an option, you would have to do a lot of modifications.

I just installed some used ones i got from a friend with no rods, I could not see a way to extend the stock ones had to buy the harley brake rod went aftermarket on shifter. some times you just need to bite the bullet on parts and I think forwards are one of them.

Save at least 20% on parts and accessories.

Harley Davidson Accessories (Look up part numbers here)
http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/gma_main.jsp?locale=en_US&bmLocale=en_US

Zanotti's (check prices here) This is a Harley Dealer that gives at least 20% off parts and accessories, including aftermarket parts.
https://www.zanottimotor.com/shopping/partLookUp.html

Chicago Harley Davidson, Also an online dealer that gives 20% off parts and accessories

Harley Davidson Riding Gear (Look up part numbers here)

Add /_ _ _ _ for size of an article of clothing after the part number when doing a search on Zanotti's or Chicago's website?

Buy the kit, sell the mids to recoup some.

I purchased mine at the dealer I bought my bike from, they gave me 20% off for the first year since I bought my bike. But as someone else posted Chicago Harley and a few others offer 20% off all the time.

Check out american classic motors on eBay, they have the Kuryakyn forwards for $299 and free shipping. Real easy to install and you do not have to take the primary off.
